Our Beginner Ballet/tap Combination class is a 60 minute once a week class for energetic 3 and 4 years old! The focus of this class is movement to music. We continue to work towards developing flexibility and skills to enhance coordination of movements such as jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping. Beginners will also be introduced to basic tap steps and movements. Rhythm sticks and instruments are used to aid the dancers in creating different rhythms with their feet! Students continue to learn to follow directions from someone else other than a parent as well as socialization skills. We teach the work in a creative and fun, game-like manner with lots of energy and enough structure to give them a great head start for the Pre Junior class at age 5! Each week our Beginner Creative Dance class ends with a 10 minute story and/or craft time to help enforce what they have learnt that week. If the child is three years old, I do recommend that the child has taken one year of Pre Beginner.Beginners will learn a character dance routine and tap routine that they will perform at our yearend recital. Beginners will be given the opportunity to perform at Dance Explosion if there is enough interest. These dancers will require only one costume that will be used for both routines in the Yearend Recital. |

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Creative movement uses body actions to: communicate an image (the wind), communicate an idea (a journey) or communicate a feeling (strength). Creative Movement provides children with opportunities for non-competitive, success-oriented and creative experiences. Through movement, children learn about their bodies, the space around them, and each other. Creative movement activities should encourage all children to participate. Both boys and girls enjoy these classes. All children can benefit, including children with communication, sensory, developmental or physical challenges. |
